Wind power and the lessons of history

Those of us in the great cities of the West Coast should stop for a moment and consider the last grand stretches of open country in the West. From eastern Oregon, to western Texas, to the magnificent Great Plains, those landscapes where earth and sky can wed in a glorious uninterrupted vastness are part of who Americans are as a people. While they may not have many people in them, we all, whether we know it or not, have some of them in us.

They are also the wind power frontier.
